Welcome

Welcome all to the newest online magazine where your work is taken seriously by both editors and viewers.  It's time to challenge yourself.  Are you able to create a story in six words only?

Take a look at the guidelines and familiarize yourself with its suggestions.  Every two weeks, I will post a series of pieces that I accept through submissions.  So, start writing.  Most importantly: have fun!

Submission Guidelines

Oh, you think it will be easy to create a story in six words, do you?

I want to see: setting, plot, and character within each submission.  You may send up to five stories per submission, but, if accepted, I ask that you do not submit more than once per month. Upon receiving a rejection letter, you are free to submit different stories in another submission as soon as you wish.

Send your submissions to sixwordshortstories@gmail.com.  In the subject line, please write: "six word short story", the number of stories you are submitting, and your name.

Ex: Six Word Short Story - 4 - John/Jane Doe

Remember to submit your work in the body of the email, along with the appropriate title for each piece. *note: Titles must not exceed more than two words* Below your story/stories, you will specify the name you would like to be published under (i.e. Real name or your chosen pseudonym), your city of residence, and a short bio.

  •  simultaneous submissions are acceptable, however, send an email if your piece has been accepted elsewhere.
  • Previously published pieces are not accepted (websites, e-zine, or traditionally published).
  • Emails with attachments will be deleted faster than you can read your six word short story.
  • Hemingway will haunt you and summarily delete your submission if you fail to adhere to these guidelines.
